 State Record Spotted Minimize

   The state record Spotted Bass taken by pole and line is 7lbs. and 8oz. from Table Rock Lake. Caught by  Gene Amaud of Branson ,Mo. April 6 ,1966.
   The record on limbline os 1lb. and 12 oz. from the Castor River by David Ward of Advance , Mo. September 20 , 1996.

Spotted Bass

   The spotted bass is also a member of the sunfish family. Their average lifespan is 6 years and the adults average in size from 10-20 inches long and reach up to 5 pounds. They prefer permanent flowing water and main channels of rivers and streams. They are carnivorous feeding on crayfish , worms and insects and are most active in the early morning or late evening.

 

Identifying Characteristics:

  • Large, elongated fish with a large mouth
  • Upper jaw reaches to or slightly beyond the rear margin of the eye in adults.
  • Upper parts are greenish with darker mottlings; the lower sides and belly are whitish with dark spots arranged in rows. The midside has a broad, dark continuous stripe.
